summer in the city

Summer is a fantastic time to wear brights - in a place were black is always an acceptable color choice, I sometimes have a hard time picking out colorful items for my workplace. I found this lovely skirt on a trip to the J.Crew Factory. It's already on the regular rotation of things to wear whenever it's warm enough not to need tights (where is spring? It's been freezing.). I really love the reds and blues mixed in the paisley - and it definitely feels like it should make an appearance at July 4th.

weekend routines

My favorite place to workout is closer to my office then my house, which means on the weekends I venture into the city usually both Saturday and Sunday to get in another round of sweating. Since I do have a lazy streak and could very easily choose to sleep in or stay locally across the river (its really not far, just means I spend some time reading on the train on the weekends- I'd want to read anyway), I do allow myself a treat each time I head in. I really enjoy a good coffee or iced tea, so I allow myself to go to Starbucks after I hit the gym. It's one of my regular things, and just enjoy that boost of caffeine after working hard.

sugar snap peas

This weekend I made a trip to Trader Joe's, which I love going to but is always overwhelming since it's packed with people no matter when you go. I was however very excited to find my favorite vegetable - at least of late- the sugar snap pea. I love eating them raw and find them a perfect afternoon snack. Does anyone have a recipe for these bad boys that you want to share?

trying to do it right

As you know, I love to watch Nashville - I was so excited when it finally came back for the May sweeps. I am way too invested in the characters - and can hardly wait to see what will happen next. I know I am going to have to buy the albums from the show so I can sing along all summer long waiting for the return of my new favorite story. This is one of my favorite performances by the daughters of the main character - makes me very happy. They are so cute. An interesting fact- the actresses are sisters in real life, which makes them even more adorable.
