I Want to Run Through the Jungle

New shoes, every girl loves a new pair of shoes. I have been looking for leopard print ballet flats for a while now, and found these Kelsi Dagger's at TJ Maxx over the weekend. I love the red trim, that give the shoes that extra spark. I am planning on wearing the shoes with black trousers, and either a red or black top, these shoes need to be the focus of the outfit.

Wrapped Up in Books

I'll admit it I am a bit of a nerd, I love to read. There's nothing better then getting lost of in the pages of a good book. Exciting plot lines, new places, it's like stepping into someone else's shoes or taking a vacation without getting on an airplane. My mother always tells me to join a library, however I can be a bit harsh on books, and that whole bringing them back in a timely manner is sometimes easier said then done. However, I don't buy books all that often anymore as I've stumbled upon - Paperbackswap.com. Definitely one of the best concepts, and executions of swaping books with people all over the US. For no membership fees, only the cost of mailing a book (most which cost about $2.41 to send), you get your pick of any books out there, while other members help you keep your home bookshelf from exploding. The system operates on a 1 to 1 credit system, so for every book you send, you get a new book to read. There's even a wish list section for you to get on the waiting list for popular books or new publications. So far, I've had nothing but success, all my books sent are received and all books requested have made it to me. I am one happy bookworm.

I'll Wrap Them All Up in a Kiss

Fall is in the air, nights are already getting that crisp feeling. I love the cool nights, and comfortably warm days. This wrap dress from the Gap is going to be a staple in my fall wardrobe, the print is classy and the faux wrap style hangs perfectly. Looks great with a pair of black tights and ballet flats, however I think it could also be paired with boots for a more casual look.

In the Dunes of the Cape

I just got back from a week on Cape Cod, returned back to reality in time for a hurricane. Thought I would share one of the photos I took on the beach on a gorgeous day.

When Doves Cry

I love finding random art in unexpected places. A few weeks ago, I was visiting friends and we took a trip to Newburyport to spend the day on the beach. I spotted this door way along the way and fell in love....

Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen

I am one of those pesky pale people, who even when tan, I still look pale. As a teenager, I spent my summers lifeguarding 8 hours a day, sometimes 7 days a week. A tan was a badge of honor. My fellow guards and I would use low SPF sunscreen or even oil and work on those glows for 3 months. I even looked tan if you saw my strap lines. Now you hear about how Melanoma is effecting people in their 20's. Though I can't turn back the clock on those glorious summer days, today I am a sunscreen addict. I wear sunscreen every single day, particularly on my face. My favorite daily moisturizer with sunscreen is Neutrogena's Healthy Defense in SPF 30 (available at drugstores for about $14). It's not greasy and putting makeup works well if you allow your skin to absorb for a couple minutes. I can hope I have that skin in my 50's that makes people envious including my older sister.

Under My Umbrella

There's been quite a bit of rain in the past few weeks, and I am horrible about looking at the forecast before walking out the door most mornings. Last week I got caught at work in down pouring rain, sans umbrella or raincoat. Even though the subway is a block from the office, getting caught in the rain and looking like I've showered with my clothes on is not exactly my favorite look . My boss saved the day and lent me his back up umbrella (smartly kept in a drawer of his desk), but not without some sage/ fatherly advice about going out and buying my own desk umbrella.

I'll admit, he's right not having an umbrella at the office is just silly, particularly when I walk about a mile to and from work most days. I am sure though, he didn't have these animal print umbrellas from Old Navy in mind when he lobbied for this purchase. I bought both the cheetah and zebra both of which will have me singing in the rain.

Another Blog Attempt

I've tried to be a blogger at least once a year for about the past 5 years. I enjoy reading blogs and I have great aspirations on starting an online journey that others will follow and look forward to the next post. Past attempts have been too narrowly focused, so that I loose interest in the topic, or cannot commit to the challenge I've set for myself up to fail. This blog will be more less structured, more free based, ranging from recently read books, things I love, travel, everything and anything is fair game. Hopefully you'll enjoy reading and will pass along to your friends.
