My little Macy, the family dog – perhaps the last dog my
parents will have. The little sweetums is the favorite child, always getting
treats and pets, however the poor girl does not get regular walks. I will point
out that there is a dog run in the backyard in which she can go pretty far and
run up and down a hill, so she’s
definitely getting outside. She also loves to chase the bunnies in the
backyard- who are too smart and stay just far enough out of reach of the dog
run. I like to take walks, particularly
after dinner – I think it aids the digestion – I am also obsessed (OBSESSED)
with getting my fitbit steps in each day. I started taking the dog with me on
my jaunts, figuring the old girl would love it – and I was right. I get
followed around the house like the best thing that’s ever happened to the
little girl, and I call her my white shadow. Well wouldn’t you know, I took her
for a walk on a lovely Saturday morning (she waits for me to come down in my
sneakers, and then we must go immediately) and later that evening I noticed the
poor beast limping pitifully around the house. Yes, my walking broke the dog
down to injury. My long walks have caused her pain, so for now I must be mean
and leave her behind and the poor thing howls at me. I feel horrible, but I
don’t want to keep injuring her.

much loved
This coffee table book looks so cute to me - I think everyone needs a lovey and it’s
great to see some truly loved bears and animals. Much Loved by Mark Nixon is a collection of
teddy bear portraits of some of the most loved of their kind. I still have my
pink bear – Snuff, who’s been loved since 1988, making him 25 years young.
Snuff now sits above my bed most nights watching me sleep (little creeper).
Lately, I have been trying to track down Dolly – my lovey from birth, whom my
mother painstakingly replaced her back regularly since I would wear it out, and
eventually had to do reconstructive facial surgery when I wore through that
too. I think Dolly must be at my parents’ house somewhere in a hidden spot as I
cannot find her in mine – I really do hope I can find her as she was so loved
for so long.
Did you have a lovey or two?

go chasing rabbits
While on vacation on Cape Cod, my family and I had a neighbor that liked to stop by to say hello and snack on the grass. I was able to capture this little guy on camera, and I got very close - not so close to pet wild animals but close enough to see his soft fur.

a bird dog
My favorite dog- Miss Macy. She was ever so loving this weekend- couldn't wait to snuggle and always wagging her tail. She was definitely trying to be all coy in this picture- but that little white face! That little love dog-girl, one of the best parts of being home.

set off the geese
I spotted these baby Canadian Geese on a long walk over the weekend. It was really cute to see the family all together - and the parents let me get way too close to snap these pictures (I was waiting to get attacked by the Geese like Jess was attacked by a swan in Gilmore Girls).

nothing but a hound
I had to share this adorable photo of my sister's dog - Desmond- or as I like to call him my fur-nephew. He's just such a happy guy on this amazingly beautiful day!

we are innocent dog
It's pretty obvious- at least to me that I really want a dog. I grew up with a family dog- Princess, that was around before I was even born. I remember when we got our puppy, Daisy, when I was twelve to replace our faithful friend. Now my parents have Macy, who I think was a complete surprise to them when they ventured down the road to another furry companion. I even get to visit with Sharon's Boston Terrier Stella (not pictured- but equally as cute) when I stay with her people - I swear I am not just there to see the dog! I love the idea of a vintage suitcase as a dog bed though- what a clever little piece of decor but functional item for a little doggy to sleep in.

a hug around the neck
Happy Valentine's Week! I thought it would be nice to share signs of love that have touched my heart in someway everyday this week- as a way to celebrate. I've also been a bit eager to tackle a themed week of postings as so many other bloggers seem to do, it's rather neat to see how people tie things together. Perhaps this will be something I consider doing regularly, maybe this will go miserably.
These two labs could not be any sweeter as they embrace each other in a hug- definitely brings a smile to my face to think of animals showing affection to one another. Pets have a way of stealing our hearts away and this photo makes me want to go out and adopt two little fury friends like the yellow labs.

little one when you play
How cute are these little hats? I've been searching for some gifts for friends who recently had babies, and I stumbled upon these great knit hats from The Gap. The bear, the giraffe, and the elephant are all so darling, that I want to get them all. I think every baby is even more precious when wearing animal ears, and moms could pretend to have their own little zoo babies. I love the details with the button eyes, giving these beanies a homemade feel - definitely something a grandmother would make for a favorite grandchild.

call them the diamond dogs
How can you not love that face? The past holiday weekend I got all the attention from our faithful family pup, Macy. She's a true love bug, all about making you feel like you are the most important person in the world. I snapped her picture while she was resting on a kitchen chair- a trick she loves since all she wants to be is part of the conversation at the table. Since I don't have my own dog, I love that all she wants to do is let me know she is glad I am there, to spend time with her of course - I got plenty of interactions with the humans at home as well. Dogs certainly make the world a better place.

and they called it puppy love
I have puppy fever. I think it's similar to what some women feel when they hold
a baby and then want one of their own. When I am out with friends walking
around, At Halloween time I printed a photo of a dog in costume to decorate my
office space. I almost always point out the dogs as they stroll by. "Isn't he
handsome... Aw - look at the beagle- he's jaunty." In all honesty, it's probably
a bit annoying that I always want to pet all the dogs similar to a young child.
But I ask how can you hate such an adorable face?
