Letters to Norby #12

Dear Norby-

It’s been quite the busy week young man. You were born, you came home from the hospital, we both survived our first babysitting ordeal. This was probably the only time I really liked babysitting, when I was a teen, I never felt comfortable being in other people’s houses. I blame that on the McMansions that were popular where your mommy and I grew up, the homes were way to big and the kids always seemed like they could be in trouble in their rooms and I’d be way down in the living room, practically in another zip code.  Babysitting for you is well, perfection right now. You love to be held the whole time and you let me take about 800 photos of you, so for now this is a great situation. One day you won’t be so still for photos, and I understand that I’ve have to take what I can get, and I do look forward to the days when you will be playful and ready to rumble. I am also pleased that I get to spend a lot more time with you this week, tomorrow I get to go with you and Mommy to the doctor and then you come to Grammy and Gramps’s house for Thanksgiving. Lots of bonding for us.

Enjoying the time we have this week.

Love your favorite auntie

insane in the membrane

Yes, that’s right I do think I went through a moment of insanity the other day when I booked a trip to Paris for New Year’s Eve.  You read that correctly, it was decided that saying Bon Jour to 2013 would occur in France.  I am so looking forward to coffees, long walks through the city with a chill in the air, seeing the Eiffel Tower, and eating macaroons.  Oh and did I mention Champagne? There will be plenty of that as well. I am fairly certain that the end of 2012, and the beginning of 2013 will be whirlwind in a long weekend, but I am so excited to spend three days in Paris being a happy little traveler.

dazed and confused for so long

Dear Friday-

It feels like this is our second rendezvous this week, thanks to our dear friend the mid-week holiday. Twice this week you’ve felt like Tuesday, and I am truly glad you are really here now – this work for two days, day off, work two more days, then back to the weekend is confusing.   Though, if we could make that the regular work week, I probably could get on board with that, and then a Tuesday would feel like Friday every week, but then there would be two Monday type days.  Until next week Friday!

Love,
Jill

it's independence day

Happy July Forth! I had a very patriotic breakfast a few days ago, so I couldn't resist posting a photo of amazingly colorful and delicious fruit. This holiday is always fun with fireworks and cookouts, and just taking a day away from work. I hope you all have a lovely day with friends and family enjoying freedom and fun.

I'll be your girl for all seasons, all the year through

Imagine my delight when this adorable calendar made it's way to me via a friend who knew I'd love it. There as a mysteriously large envelope in the mail, which just makes the mind wander into the mode of - what could this be? I couldn't have been more please to find this gift I'll enjoy all year long, and definitely something I needed. Part of me just wants to try to recreate all the delicious desserts through out the 2012 year (might we all get to enjoy the struggles of making desserts, in a gluten free way?). Here's to enjoying a sweet and tasty new year.

say my name say my name

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. I love personalizing things, it might be an ego thing but seeing my name in print always makes me feel important. I've been looking for a holiday gift for a friend that was simple and personal, and these monogrammed mugs from Anthropologie seemed like the perfect choice. It also didn't hurt that the mug pretty much leaped off the shelf into my basket. My friend works from home, where she spends many hours in the basement office as not to cause heartache for her young daughter and babysitter during working hours (we all know how important mommas are). Since I know she recently got an electric tea kettle for her workspace, I thought a nice mug with some unique teas would be a thoughtful way to remember her this holiday season.

she needs wide open spaces

Nature lovers rejoice- November ends with another round of 60 degree weather, which lead to me getting out and enjoying a bit of nature in Massachusetts during the holiday weekend. Concord is home of some historical revolutionary events (think of Paul Revere), and has a quite a few parks for families to enjoy walking through- most for the very inexperienced outdoors man. I captured a few photos on a lovely afternoon - couldn't have asked for a nicer day.
