would you rather?

Have you ever played the game, would you rather? I remember playing this with many teams through out  college, it's a great way to figure out how people tick. I even think there may have been cards to prompt the discussions, as I remember one very distinct question. I thought it be fun to think of a few questions and post my answers. If you want to play along, please make sure to leave a comment with your post so I can read your answers.

would you rather, sweat cheese or throw up marbles?

Definitely throw up marbles- I don't throw up that often, but sweat happens a lot. Then I wonder, if you chose sweat cheese - would you eat your cheese?

would you rather, have the ability to be invisible or fly?

Hands down fly. Can you imagine the way you could just end up at the beach for the day? No hassle of the airport any more?

would you rather, watch one movie for the rest of your life, or read one book?

Definitely I'd pick watch one movie and then be able to read all the books. Let me read it all please!

would you rather, wear pajamas everywhere or have to wear business attire everywhere?

Business attire. I love some good pajamas but I hate that we live in a culture of under dressing at every turn. Plus who wants to wear pajamas to a wedding?

would you rather, live at Winterfell or live at Hogworts?

Okay, even for me this is tough - Game of Thrones or Harry Potter? Wouldn't you want both? Though the grown up in me says Winterfell and Jon Snow.  Sorry Harry - maybe some other time.

confessions: four

I try to live by the rule, Book before Movie. I always like to see how my ideas line up with the movie – would I have made a better movie then the director?

My savings accounts must be divisible by 5. This means that I true up my accounts after each monthly interest accrual. It drives me bonkers otherwise. This is part of loving finance and being a little bit crazy.

Wet shoes make me a cranky pants, but I have ample calves – rain boots I am trying to find you. Would love to know why boots don’t have calve circumferences as an option.

Not too long ago, I fell asleep with my contact lenses in, but didn’t realize it. I then proceeded to put a second pair successfully in my eyes – and thought my vision was just a bit blurry until 3PM when I thought maybe I’d just try to shift the contact in my eye – and found two in there.  Note to self, it’s not allergies, it’s just you being stupid.

I repeat things I know are going to stupid. Like drinking tea on an empty stomach, always makes me feel ill, yet I know I’ll do it again.

things that drive me bonkers – or ways to make Jill crazy if you are mean

We all have things out of our control that irk us to no end.  Sometimes, I wonder if people do this just because they know it’s annoying, or it’s going to make you want to throw your shoe at them if you were allowed to.

People at work who leave dishes soaking in our communal sink. Kiddos, what are you making in the microwave that you need to soak your dish all afternoon? Why not take the 5 minutes to wash your cup right then and there, so that I don’t have a meltdown over this behavior. I swear, one day I am going to just throw your dish out, sorry its true, I am going to do it. Consider this your warning that I am plotting to throw away your mug that you are soaking.

People on the train who want you to stop holding on to your pole so they can get up from their seat to get to the door while the train is moving. Hello? Why should I risk injury because you are afraid the doors are going to open and shut in a nano second- they won’t, I promise the train can stop, I can let go and then you can get out. I am not being a pain in the butt for not wanting to surf the train and crack open my head – please just wait 45 seconds.

The guy who every time I make polite conversation with, reminds me he has a girlfriend. Dude, good for you – you go Glen Coco! I have known you now for 7 years, it’s totally great you finally got a girl after complaining about how f*d up girls were on facebook. I was embarrassed for you on some of those posts (private lives people).I don’t really care though that you took your girlfriend anywhere when I ask you about your weekend, just say it was really nice thank you.

I really don’t have a short fuse for the most part, but these are things that just are getting under my skin lately. I probably need more yoga in my life or something to chill out.

might as well drink in the sun

I am too old for all day drinking, though I did enjoy day drinks over this past weekend. It was so nice to slide down to Florida for some warm weather and beach and pool time (please remind me this should be a yearly pilgrimage). I went down to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had a lovely time enjoying relaxing days and evenings outside in true summertime fashion.  Returning home to the below freezing temperatures on Sunday night, was less than pleasant- I am more than ready to leave my winter coat in the closet for at least 6 months.   Anyways, hope you had a fun Saint Patrick’s Day!

just because...

I recently wanted to get one of my friends a cute notebook for the next adventure in her life.  Originally a work friend, turned into an out of work friend (love when that happens), she and I both have a similar love for to do lists and having a notebook to jot down notes and other important details. I thought that a nice notebook that was purse friendly and a bit personalized would make a nice little gift. I fell in love with these notebooks on etsy that are embroidered with names or other words if you desire. I love personalization – and I love giving items with initials or names on them to people.  If you are looking for a nice little something with that extra thoughtful flair - I highly recommend you consider a personalized notebook.

from my bookshelf

I probably read more than the average person, typically in a year I read about a book a week. It’s certainly not completely evenly spread- when  I am working and only reading on my commutes and before bed I am reading at a slower pace, and vacations I tend to pick up and read a lot more.  It’s truly my favorite hobby- there’s nothing better to me than falling into a book and not being able to put it down. I thought I’d share some recent great reads in case you’re hankering for a recommendation.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. If you like twisted tales of who’s really the guilty party, this is a page turner. Just when you start to think one thing, you realize another character is even crazier than the last. Added bonus with this one is that it’s going to be a movie this fall staring Mr. Ben Affleck.

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. The first installment of The Game of Thrones – not just a geeky fantasy book, but one with all sorts of tales. I particularly enjoy the different  viewpoints as each chapter switches characters. I am very fond of young Bran Stark- who’s only eight years old in this first book.

The Hit by David Baldacci. I have always enjoyed crime thrillers and this one was definitely had some interesting plots. When I discovered David Baldacci a few years ago, I was impressed by the topical subject matter, that really makes you wonder what the leaders of any government are up to – even our own. It feels like there’s so much going on behind the scenes, and this novel really makes you think about that.

I'd love any recommendations for next reads if you have one.
