happiness list

I am pretty late to this party, but I am listening to “Let it Go” from Frozen on repeat now. Idina Menzel sang this when I watched the Oscars, and then the song won the award, and I was hooked.  Strong apologies to my work neighbors as I think I sing this out loud at some point while I am listening at my desk. What can I say, I was the little girl who wanted to play Annie whenever I got a chance.

Getting a lovely long weekend in warm sunny Florida. I am so glad to have a chance to escape the cold even for a few days. Something about 80 degrees makes everything feel better. Spring, here I am, and I am waiting for you.

I feel in love with my new way to cross off my to do list at work. I realized that I hated crossing out and not being able to look back later to get a handle on what I had done, I’ve started highlighting completed items – still easy to read, and adds a pop of color to my life (yep, I am a nerd).

The beautiful flowers I received as a thank you. It’s probably my favorite thing to tell people I have many secret admirers as this did come from a group of people. Orange roses are a new favorite – they are so vibrant.

Also, happy that I finally scheduled my appointment with my tax guy – it’s always a pleasure to visit Ray this time of year. Yes, it’s nerdy to like your tax accountant, but mine is pleasant and kind.

happiness list

How is it almost March? Though I am desperately looking forward to spring, I still cannot believe February is nearly over – were we not just ringing in the new year like a week ago?  Anyway a happiness list to keep it real this month.

In typical Jill fashion, I return from some days off to instantly plan the next round of time away (vicious cycle I tell you). This time I am going to be heading somewhere sunny and hopefully warm for a few days. Bring on sunscreen and flip flops please.

Finally getting to the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones. I have been reading the books, and I haven’t watched the TV show (maybe a summer treat?), but I knew something big was coming and I was still shocked. There is something to be said for an author totally willing to kill off favorite characters – it’s bold and I like it.

I finally threw away my green tights. This made me ridiculously giddy, as every single time I wear them I feel like the understudy of the Wicked Witch. I cannot get over the fact my legs are green and it just seems more obnoxious to me than other colored tights.  As someone who hates to throw things that are not ripped or ruined away, this was a small victory.

Embracing some green behaviors at work these days. I have officially transitioned to a ceramic mug after being a disposable user for ages. I will preface that I would reuse my disposable cup all day long so I wasn’t so environmentally evil, but this feels like a giant leap forward for me and the planet.

Sadly, I am excited that the Olympics have ended so that my DVR can be stocked back up with things to watch. I can totally get on board with some good old Olympic watching, but it is nice to be able to get back on to seeing the final weeks of How I Met Your Mother and other distractions.

happiness list

This is the first happiness list post of 2014 - which seems crazy to me, but as someone who doesn't blog daily it makes sense it takes a few weeks to get here without driving you all batty.

This video by Conan O'Brien and his trip to American Girl Place in Los Angeles. It's long I'll give you that but it's ridiculously funny. I always wanted Samantha when I was young enough to covet one of these dolls, but never had one of my own. I still ask for this each Christmas just to annoy my mother.

Finishing books one and two of Game of Thrones. I am  completely hooked but feel like I should read some of the other books waiting for me on my kindle for now. After I get through another book or two, I'll definitely be ready to start on book three.

Getting an extra day on a business trip so I can see my family for a day, particularly looking forward to seeing Norbs for a couple of hours. He and I have plans to play while his momma gets her hair done - I truly love our little "dates".

Planning a vacation in a few weeks – to a place that’s long been on my list. I am very excited to have something planned so early in the year and finally get a spot checked off my places to go, things to see list. There will definitely be more on this later on.

Loving the song “Throw it on the Fire” by Jon McLaughlin. I love the music and the lyrics, but the string instruments are amazing.

Have a fantastic weekend!
