When you live in the city, a trip to the mall can be a bit
fascinating. I feel like I’ve gotten very use to doing a lot of online shopping
(NYC crowds, shopping and tourists- ick, ick, ick, ick), as well as planning
trips to specific places with specific purchases in mind. Stores in New York
allow you to avoid going to multiple if you don’t want to be swayed into
looking due to window displays. On a recent trip to a mall, I found this lovely
scarf at The Gap, which I plan on wearing a lot during my two trips coming up –
one to Charleston with my mom, and one to San Francisco with Ali (ever loyal
blog reader). This just feels like one of those accessories that will go well
with everything, and keep me nice and toasty on those chilly nights or days,
depending what state I am in. I love the
polka dots and the rich fall color.

the odds of being alone
I know there are truly some great benefits to being single –
ability to travel when you want, being able to leave the bathroom door wide
open no matter what you are doing in there, no weird family members that you
aren’t use to. Despite some of the
greatness of having complete independent decisions, there comes a point when
you start to wonder how many frogs you have left to kiss before you find the
right one. I’d like to find my partner
in crime, the person who makes me feel better after a bad day, the person to
make soup for or pick up ginger ale when he doesn’t feel well, and the person
who will wake up with me on Saturday and decide that it is perfectly acceptable
to spend the morning in sweats watching old 90210 episodes (ok, I realize most
men would not consider 90210 a must, but a girl can dream). Please don’t think that I don’t get that relationships
have tricky spots as well and that it’s not all roses and sunshine, but it’d be
nice to have someone to weather those storms with. For now though, I am going
to enjoy what I have in my life and enjoy.

if it makes you happy
A few happy little highlights from this past weekend. 1) A delightful skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks, so good on a crisp fall day. 2) Painting my finger nails a beautiful cerulean blue color - reminds of blue birds and sunny skies. 3) Gluten Free Pumpkin Cupcakes- with a failed attempt to package them nicely in the cups- but they were ever so delicious despite the frosting all over the cup.

Letters to Norby #6
Dear Norby-
I love your Mommy, but when we were kids she use to love to torture me. She had an advantage being older than me, and when she would babysit for me one of her favorite things to do was to pull my socks off and pretend to flush them down the toilet. Imagine being held down, and having your feet shocked out of warm socks. Now, looking back it is super funny, but at the time my 5 year old self was worried about the consequences of ruining the plumbing, and well - I hated stretched out socks. If you are lucky enough to have a younger sibling one day, or maybe a younger cousin, I'd prefer if you find another method of torture. Keep in mind one day those younger and smaller, eventually can turn the tables on you - one way or another. Though, I fully support you trying steal your mother's socks and doing what you please.
Love your favorite auntie
