everybody's got their demons
A video of a song I cannot stop singing this week. I saw Brett Eldredge in concert a few months ago, he was late due to air traffic control, but totally made up for it with giving me this little ditty to sing along with.

bedtime rituals...
Minds out of the gutter readers, please. This is more of a
something sweet I like to do each night before I turn out the lights. Most
evening routine involves the normal things, washing the face – which usually
involves a makeup wipe because I am lazy, a bit of moisturizer for the face,
brushing the teeth and flossing. Once I hope in bed, a few things must happen,
I must read at least a page of a book, I cannot get sleepy without a bit of
reading, and when I turn out the lights, I’ve gotten in the habit of saying
good night to my someone, where ever he may be right now. Call it crazy, call
it sweet, it’s just what I do – I want my person to know that I wish do wish
for a pleasant sleep, and a great tomorrow. I don’t really know when I started
doing this, but it dawned on me a few months ago that this is just part of my
life until that someone comes into my life.

happiness list
These little lists are really one thing I’ve been enjoying
doing every couple of weeks on my blog. Since cutting down to three posts a
week (much more manageable for me at this stage), this “sometimes series” really
makes me reflect on things to be grateful for. It’s nice to step back and
reflect every now and again.
My new teeny tiny plants from The Sill. I thought they would
be a bit bigger, at least in my mind they were bigger. However, I was
pleasantly delighted by how absolutely miniature the succulents are and now
they brighten up a small corner of my desk.
Halloween candy – so far I’ve been pretty disciplined, only
buying one bag of mixed M&M’s. Peanut is my favorite, I could eat them all
the time but have the little bags is making me ration out candy pretty
efficiently, and making me have a bit less guilt compared to other Halloweens
when I just take myself to candy town. Oh, won’t you please, take me to candy
town?
Learning that little Norby, at not even a year old, eats
grilled cheese. This makes me smile and giggle because this kid is not into the
baby food at all. He wants to be a little grown up, which I think the family
saw coming from a mile away. I also laugh because I think the whole family views
cheese as a standalone food group – good to see that trait got passed along to
the next generation.
Having too much to watch on the DVR – really random I know,
but it’s nice to know there’s a stash of shows to catch up on. I’ve really been
keeping up with two things regularly so far, The Mindy Project (love her, you
know this) and How I Met Your Mother. I’ve watched HIMYM since the beginning
and the show is very relate-able. I’m a crier so I am getting in the full season
of crying this year, I’ll definitely miss the gang when the finale airs.
Enjoy Indian summer this week- it’s such a treat to get a
bit more warmth in before the chill of winter really sets in.
What’s on your happiness list this week?

rainy days and weekends
I am totally craving a rainy weekend day, you know the type
– steady rain all day that makes you feel like it’s 100% acceptable to make a
big stack of pancakes, snuggle up on the couch and not change of you pajamas
and watch movies all day. So far the forecast has been lovely most weekends
this fall, so I’ve been trying not to allow myself to fall into a completely
lazy Saturday and enjoy being outside as much as possible. Winter is going to
come, and if the Farmer’s Almanac is correct it’s going to be insanely snowy
and I’ll get plenty of weekend afternoons to snuggle inside. There’s a few movies I feel are must see for
everyone, just things that make you think or just laugh. I’ve complied a small
list of winter movies for anyone looking to have a lazy weekend.
Beautiful Girls – based in a small Massachusetts town,
Willie returns home from New York for a reunion to figure out life, while
seeing all his old high school buddies.
You get small town life, big dreams and people who don’t always see
what’s in front of them. Added bonus: a very young Natalie Portman in an actual
wise beyond her years 13 year old neighbor to the main character.
The Holiday – Cameron D heads to the snowy English
countryside and finds Jude Law. Kate
Winslet is completely charming with the elderly neighbor and snags a
surprisingly handsome Jack Black. It’s holidays, love, and happy endings for
all, plus some wacky movie voiceover guy. Plus the British accents are lovely
and posh.
Love Actually – Brits are awesome (no really they are, if
you happen to be one of my British colleagues, please feel overly flattered),
but movie has so many sweet love stories. I flip my favorite couple depending
on where I am personally in my own life, though Colin Firth is always a favorite
of mine ( I crushed him back in his Mr. Darcy days and still do). I also like
when you see how people weave in and out of each other’s lives.
