My little Macy, the family dog – perhaps the last dog my
parents will have. The little sweetums is the favorite child, always getting
treats and pets, however the poor girl does not get regular walks. I will point
out that there is a dog run in the backyard in which she can go pretty far and
run up and down a hill, so she’s
definitely getting outside. She also loves to chase the bunnies in the
backyard- who are too smart and stay just far enough out of reach of the dog
run. I like to take walks, particularly
after dinner – I think it aids the digestion – I am also obsessed (OBSESSED)
with getting my fitbit steps in each day. I started taking the dog with me on
my jaunts, figuring the old girl would love it – and I was right. I get
followed around the house like the best thing that’s ever happened to the
little girl, and I call her my white shadow. Well wouldn’t you know, I took her
for a walk on a lovely Saturday morning (she waits for me to come down in my
sneakers, and then we must go immediately) and later that evening I noticed the
poor beast limping pitifully around the house. Yes, my walking broke the dog
down to injury. My long walks have caused her pain, so for now I must be mean
and leave her behind and the poor thing howls at me. I feel horrible, but I
don’t want to keep injuring her.

confessions:five
I leave for Belgium in about a week. The only things I know
I am doing there is staying in hotels- I haven’t planned a single site to see,
a museum to visit, a place to eat. Definitely way under prepared to go.
I do not like Facebook as means of communication –it’s too
impersonal for me. I deleted my full account over a year ago and set up one
that I do very little with, and it works for me. Why even have an account? I’ve had to
coordinate rides for races and things like that with people I only know through
my gym – that’s what made me get a new account.
Currently loving on Luke Bryan – I could listen to that man
every day all day long. He’s also fairly easy on the eyes.
My most popular post ever is “ I hate boats”… perhaps the
title draw people in? I’ve never had a post read over 100 times before this
one.
Almost daily at work, I leave a cup outside the bathroom,
get all the way back to my desk and have to go back for my drink. I don’t think
I’ll ever remember that I got a refill on my water or tea ever.

from my bookshelf: this is where i leave you
So, I found out that Tina Fey and Jason Bateman are going to
be a movie together which is based off the book, This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper. The
movie trailer looks so funny, and the cast list is amazing - Connie Britton, Adam Driver, Jane Fonda and more (honestly, like
could I go to dinner with you all?). I
am a firm believer in book before movie, because I’ll never read a book if I know
what’s going to happen. A quick synopsis
is the patriarch of a family passes away and a provision of the will is that
the whole family sit Shiva for one week in the family house. Adult children are
put in childhood bedrooms (some not their own) and the whole family gets a lot
of togetherness. I loved the all family dysfunction (all our families are dysfunctional
), but deep down you could see how much the adult children truly still cared
about one another. There are some
definite oh my god, did that just happen? I would highly recommend reading this
one before you see the movie, because I know everyone will see this movie.

today the blog turns three!
Wow… When I started doing some writing back in the summer of
2011, I thought yep let’s see how long you keep this up. I think I’ve gone back
and forth a lot of, lots of posts, and a slight disappearing act. However, I am
happy that I still manage to write fairly regularly because I do this primarily
because I like to think of it as a way to stretch myself in a more creative
aspect. For those of you who are fairly
new, I am an analytical type at work, so I really love the opportunity to
stretch myself outside my comfort zone out here in the blog world.
This little blog is special to me – because I get to share
little things here and there, try out my voice. I am such a reader by nature,
writing felt like a nice extension of that little piece of me.
I hope in the coming year to be able to share more with all
of you, particularly now that I’ve ventured to a new (old) city. I am still
very much getting my feet wet around here, and figuring out my world – so hopefully
that leads to some interesting adventures and insights. Or maybe some hilarity –
that to me would be a win for all.
As always, thank you to those who come by from time to time.
I appreciate your support on this endeavor.
