confessions: four

I try to live by the rule, Book before Movie. I always like to see how my ideas line up with the movie – would I have made a better movie then the director?

My savings accounts must be divisible by 5. This means that I true up my accounts after each monthly interest accrual. It drives me bonkers otherwise. This is part of loving finance and being a little bit crazy.

Wet shoes make me a cranky pants, but I have ample calves – rain boots I am trying to find you. Would love to know why boots don’t have calve circumferences as an option.

Not too long ago, I fell asleep with my contact lenses in, but didn’t realize it. I then proceeded to put a second pair successfully in my eyes – and thought my vision was just a bit blurry until 3PM when I thought maybe I’d just try to shift the contact in my eye – and found two in there.  Note to self, it’s not allergies, it’s just you being stupid.

I repeat things I know are going to stupid. Like drinking tea on an empty stomach, always makes me feel ill, yet I know I’ll do it again.

Hello August

August, the dog days of summer – am I ever pleased to see you here.  I feel like setting some goals for the month, so of all places to keep me accountable, why not place them on the blog?

Walk 10,000 a day (harder out of New York)
Do 30 sit ups and 30 pushups each day
Catch up on my thank you notes
Send that engagement congratulations card I’ve had for like a month
Read: Getting to Yes by Roger Fisher (for my work book club)
Spend some time on the beach
Figure out what I am doing in Belgium

What’s on your list for August?

i hate boats

There I said it, I hate boats.  I don’t hate all things about boats, I just really hate social outings on boats. Why you might ask? Well my friends, there’s no way to exit the boat unless you want a swim. My big point is, you hold people captive when you put something on a boat, there’s no ebb and flow of people casually exiting or gracefully showing up a tiny bit late. Boats are an all or nothing venue, I cannot run late, I cannot leave early – I hate the boat. The irony here, is when I can leave places a lot of times I don’t want to go, I’ll stay all night long – but without the option I feel a bit claustrophobic and trapped.

So, please I ask you – nothing on a boat, if you want me to commit.

three cheers for friday

Hip Hip Hooray!

This weekend is one I’ve been looking forward to for so long. It’s my friends’ annual pool party back down in New York. When the party date was announced, I knew I had to figure out a way to come down and see a good majority of my friends in one sweep. It’s so nice when you can see so many people in one place instead of trying to coordinate so many multiple side trips. Weekend trips are usually not enough time for me to get in everything I want to do.

This is my second time to New York since I’ve left, and I’ve got one more to go next week (I am definitely spending too much time at the airport – just so you know). I've been going quite a bit for work - the irony. It’s been good to go back, see some of the favorites – like my favorite gym class, lunch place and it reminds me it’s not too far to get back and visit from time to time.

Here’s hoping to a beautiful weekend, and no sunburns.
